Links Yippers
I have found during my time at RND that the type of course you play can over a period of time also cause you to develop the yips.
Chipping - Here at RND we have firm tight fairways and fast sloping greens that are very unforgiving. Unlike a parkland course where the ball sits up a lot more on top of the grass, here and at other links course the ball sits very tight to the ground. This requires precise striking and if you have any minor flaw in your technique you will be found out and can easily develop a Yip.
Ever wondered why so many links players putt from a long way off the green? There is your answer.
Putting. With Lightening green in the summer and with many large an subtle slopes on the green the golfers at Rnd and other courses that have similar slopes and speeds, it can be very easy to develop a yip after a few short missed putts that you haven’t committed to or picked the correct line on. You may start lagging the pitts ;hoping’ they will fall in dead weight and again you get into the vicious negative circle I have previously explained.
